Yolanda Riley Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Angeleno Valley Mortuary - North Hollywood on Oct. 14, 2025.
Yolanda M Riley, known to family as Landa and to friends as Yoggi, was born in San Diego, CA in July of 1946. As the daughter of a Navy man, Yolanda traveled to multiple locals but her childhood was spent in San Diego, where she attended Gompers Junior and Lincoln High School. It was there that she met the Love of Her Life, Lester Riley. They were blessed with 3 children, Tim, Kimberly and Tiffani. Yolanda and Lester settled in North Hollywood, CA where they raised their family and remained until their passing. Yolanda loved to shop and travel but her deepest love was reserved for her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren never missing a sporting event or school activity. Yolanda was a humble and kind woman who dedicated her life to serving others. She was a civil servant for the US Postal Service and served the AFL- CIO for many years, including two terms as President of the Local APWU. While she retired from the US Postal Service after 38 years of service in 2006 she did not stop working for the APWU and began teaching other Federal employees about retirement up until her death. Yolanda loved sports and could talk about any team but her favorite was the Los Angeles Dodgers. She and Lester spent many years coaching youth at San Val Little League / East Valley Baseball where a field is dedicated in their honor. Yolanda was preceded in death by her parents, Cecilio and Hilda as well as by her husband Lester, daughter Kimberly and siblings Linda, Alfred, and Michael. She is survived by her siblings Mary, Richard and Daniel. Her surviving children Tim Riley (Brenda) and Tiffani Gaffney (Gene) will carry on her legacy along with grandchildren Matt, London, Destiny, Tyler and Drew and great-grandchildren Angela, Jaxon, Conway, Remington, Nala and Barrett. Private services will be held at Rancho San Antonio. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you consider dedicating a donation to Rancho San Antonio in honor of Yolanda Riley.
