One of my favorite and earliest memories is of spending mornings together having drawing contests. While Grandpa was at the card shop or out running errands, we would be sitting in the living room. Grandma would be leaned over the side of her recliner drawing on a sheet of computer paper laid out on the coffee table, and I would be sitting in my little chair next to the couch drawing on my own little table. At that age, Grandma was leagues better than I, and I still remember very clearly being in awe of her turtle compared to mine. Grandma told me my dad was also an artist and that I reminded her of him sometimes, especially when it came to my love of drawing and art. I will forever be grateful for the nurturing home I came from that allowed me the freedom to learn and explore at my own pace and become the man I am.
