Yvonne A. "Syring" Thomas

Yvonne A. (Syring) Thomas, 89, of Peru, passed away at 8:09 PM, Sunday, February 1, 2026, at her residence. She was born in Elgin, IL, on March 8, 1936, the daughter of Earnest and Madeline Walbaum Syring. Yvonne married William E. Thomas on January 11, 1958 and he preceded her in death on January 12, 1990. Yvonne was a 1954 graduate of St. Charles High School in St. Charles, IL. She was a devoted dog mom and an avid reader, especially biographies and romance novels. Yvonne was Pink Lady for Dukes Memorial Hospital with over 2,000 hours in service. She was a Senior Regent for the Ladies Auxiliary of the Peru Moose. Yvonne was a charter member of "Barking Dog Alley" in Peru. She made many life long friends in town and was always rooting for the Peru Tigers and Indiana University basketball. Yvonne is survived by her children William (Stephanie) Thomas of Fulshear, TX, Chirstopher (Carol) Thomas of Norman, IN and Elizabeth (David) Adams of White Plains, MD; grandchildren Jennifer (Michael) Wadland, William (Molly) Thomas and Madilyn (Nick) Adams; great-grandchildren Jack Wadland and Maggie Wadland. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband William and a son Robert J. Thomas. A celebration of life will be held from 4:00 – 6:00 P.M., Friday, February 6, 2026 at the Peru Maennerchor, 154 S. Wabash St., Peru, IN. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Miami County Animal Shelter.
