Yvonne Ruth West, 85, of Grand Island, formerly of Hershey, passed away on September 27, 2025, surrounded by the love of her family.

Memorial service and inurnment will be 3 p.m. Friday, October 3, 2025, at Ft. McPherson National Cemetery in Maxwell. All Faiths Funeral Home of Grand Island is serving the family.

Memorials in Yvonne's name are suggested to the Hershey Senior Center of Hershey, Neb. or Start Over Rover of Hastings, Neb.

Yvonne was born July 28, 1940, in Rock Island, Ill., the daughter of James and Ruth (Nehring) Wright. She graduated from Rock Island High School and began her banking career shortly after.

On September 15, 1965, Yvonne married Willard Wesley West. Two children were born to this union, Jim in 1967 and Janet in 1969. The couple lived in various places throughout the Midwest before making their home in Hershey in 1981. She worked at Hershey State Bank for many years prior to retiring in 1998. She also served on the Hershey Senior Center Board of Directors. Yvonne moved to Grand Island in 2019 to be closer to family.

Although Yvonne loved to read and tend to her garden, her family always came first. She never missed an activity in which her children or grandchildren participated. Her home was always open to anyone, and she was fondly remembered for her sugar cookies, pineapple cake, and Mama West's Old Fashioned Nacho Cheese Dip.

Those who cherish her memory include her daughter and son-in-law, Janet and Ken Hoban of Grand Island; beloved grandchildren, Beth and Taylor Hoffman of Doniphan and their children, Wesley and Maverick, Sarah and Austin English of Grand Island and their children, Burke and Atley, and Dalton West of Hastings.

She was preceded in death by husband, Willard and son, Jim West.
