Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina departed this life on November 20, 2024.
Zachary O'Brian Epps, son of Mareio Shaw and Diana Epps was born on November 20, 1992 in Richmond, Virginia. He was the youngest of five children, one preceded him in death, Bryan Christopher Epps.
At an early age, Zachary, "Zack", as many knew him, accepted Christ in his life and was baptized by Rev. Richard L. Webb at Jerusalem Baptist Church where he served as an usher.
Zack began his education very early in life. He was enrolled in HeadStart, an early childhood program at the age of three.
Zack was a very quiet young man who was full of energy. He was competitive in sports and shared his enthusiasm with his brother, Travis. As young boys, the pair ran track together during the summer months and throughout the high school years and played basketball and football. He graduated from KIPP Gaston College Preparatory High School in June of 2011 and later joined the military in April of 2015. His goal was to make a career in the Army, but due to unforeseen circumstances, he was Honorably Discharged in 2021.
Leaving behind to cherish his memory, one son: Zayden Josiah Epps (Greensboro, NC); father: Marieo Shaw (Richmond, VA); mother and step-father: Diana and Harry Johnson; grandfather: Cecil Rooks; four brothers: Demitri Epps (Denver, CO), Brandon Epps (Richmond, VA), Travis Shaw (Raleigh, NC), and Alanza Jones (Richmond, VA); two bonus brothers: Lloyd Pierce and Corey Johnson (Richmond, VA); three nephews: Tae and Demitri (Hiro) of Texas and Thai (Charlotte, NC); aunts: Valerie Johnson (Richmond, VA) and Tracey Ingram; great-aunts: Debra (Robert) Dudley, Mary (John) Smith (Pleasant Hill, NC) and Annie Scott (Baltimore, MD); great-uncles: Eddie and Edward Rooks (Baltimore, MD) and David "Frog" Rooks; three special childhood friends and confidants: Antonio Manley (Smiley), Rontrell Ingram and Christopher Wilson (Texas); two bonus aunts: Regina Johnson and Shirley Epps (Richmond, VA); and a host of other relatives and friends.
A Visitation for Mr. Zachary Obrian Epps will be held on Friday, December 6, 2024 from 8:00 PM to 9:00 PM at the Roanoke Rapids location of H D Pope Funeral Home.
Funeral Services will be Saturday, December 7, 2024 beginning at 12:00 noon at Jerusalem Baptist Church, located at 78 Garner Mills Road, Emporia, Virginia 23847
