Zachary Russo Obituary

Published by A.S. Cole Son & Co. on Mar. 8, 2018.
Zachary Anton Russo, age 42, died on Thursday, March 8, 2018, at Memorial Sloan Kettering Hospital in Manhattan, NY. Zach battled brain cancer to an uneasy truce for many years, but in the space of a few months the disease progressed and took him quickly. He died peacefully, with his family at his side. Zach was born in Princeton, NJ on April 22, 1975. He graduated from West Windsor-Plainsboro High School in 1993, where he was a member of the varsity ice hockey team. He graduated Cum Laude from St. Joseph's University in Philadelphia, PA with a Bachelor’s Degree in History and was awarded the History Medal. He continued post graduate work in communications and journalism. He most recently worked as the Director of Business Development for the Hudson Group in East Rutherford, NJ. Now Zach is on board the Nightrain, en route to Paradise City - about which little is known but the promise of green grass, pretty girls, unlimited free beer, and roving packs of friendly canines. Zach is survived by his loving and caring wife, Jill R. Watson of Point Pleasant Beach; his parents, Sylvia P. and Thomas J. Russo of Princeton Junction, NJ; his twin brother, Thomas J. Russo, Jr. and wife, Laura Loftus, of Woodstock, NY. Funeral Services will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, March 12, 2018, at The First Presbyterian Church of Cranbury, 22 South Main Street, Cranbury, NJ 08512. Interment will follow at Brainerd Cemetery in Cranbury. Visitation for friends and family will be held on Sunday, March 11, 2018, from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at A.S. Cole Son & Co., 22 North Main Street, Cranbury NJ 08512. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Zach’s memory to your favorite animal shelter by visiting www.inmemoryof-memorial.org.

To Zach's FamilyI am truly at a loss after having read of Zach's passing. I had the good fortune of sharing a dorm for 3 years with Zach at Dickinson, including being his roommate for almost 2 of those years. Zach always has a big heartwhen I was having issues with my first roommate, Zach gave offered the otherwise unoccupied other half of his room to me. He did not have to do thatbut he did and he helped me out a great deal. We spent countless nights talking about Zach's theories and ideas...there was never a dull moment when Zach was around. Please accept my profound condolences on your lossZach was truly a good friend to me and everyone else around him and he will surely be missed.

Dear Sylvia, I have been getting updates on Zack from Wendy for some time. Im so sorry to receive the devastating news of his passing. My heart goes out to you and your whole family as you face the months ahead without Zack. In spite of all that God has mercifully laid up for us who have trusted Jesus, there is still the long and arduous grieving process to go through. I will keep you in my prayers for His comfort and peace.

I was so saddened to hear of Zach's passing, yet relieved to know that he passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family.
People cross our paths for various lengths of time; sometimes the briefest moments and poignant conversations can impact our lives longer than we ever realized or expected. Zach was one of those people.
It was my sincere privilege to have met Zach, his wife Jill, his Mom and Dad and brother Tom.
My hearfelt condolences to your family at this time.
Warmest regards,
Melissa ( his physical therapist at Cranbury Center)

I'm so very saddened of this news. Zach was a great guy, a great teller of historical facts and other random information, desk side chats, venting sessions... I loved all... Rest in peace dear Zach. You made your mark on anyone you came in contact with and you did it with humor, friendliness, genuinity....

We met Zach and his Dad Tom last year while taking my brother John Nelson Schneider to Procure for treatments. Zach impressed us as a determined, brave man and he had the kind of personality that made him instantly likeable and easy to talk with. We talked about work, family, places we all knew, etc. On behalf of my brother, my sister Janet Krince and my husband John, I would like to offer the Russo family our sincere condolences on the loss of this good man.

Gifted writer. Dedicated worker. Gentle spirit. Lively intellect. Offbeat humorist. Charming companion. Faithful friend. Selfless colleague. Surrogate son. All that and so much more. Dear Zach. The struggle is over. Rest in everlasting peace and joy. I'm sure the angels are enjoying you as much as we did. You will be in our hearts forever.
