Mr. Zachary Shumate age 23 of Fort Valley Ga, died Thursday May 29, 2025, at Peach Medical Center.
Zachary was born on August 7, 2001, in Athens, Georgia to Gary Dewayne Shumate, and Casey Taylor Shumate. He was a graduate of Peach County High School who loved to dress up with fedoras, flat caps and bowties. He loved the outdoors, competitive shotgun shooting, judo taekwondo, video games, classic cars and Asian culture. He is preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Vikki Taylor, and paternal grandfather, Gary Shumate.
Survivors include his parents, Dewayne and Casey Shumate of Fort Valley, his loyal service dog, Alva, maternal grandparents, John and Cheri Taylor of Marianna, Florida, paternal grandmother, Cynthia Shumate of Thomaston, aunts and uncles, Courtney (Amos) Moore of Jackson, Chad (Angie) Shumate of Pooler, Mike (Michelle) Daniel of Thomaston, cousins, Dustin Kirby, Chloe Moore, Kate Moore, Jade Shumate, Leah Shumate, Nick Goodman, Josh Goodman, Brian Massey, Jennifer Massey, Taylor Martens, Hanna Massey, Jordan Massey, Nicholas Goodman, Adalynn Goodman, Autry Goodman, God given grandparents, Gary and Debra Howington of Thomaston, God given Aunt, Celeste (Kyle) Kessler of Thomaston, and God given sisters, Macie Winkles, and Sayla Kessler.
Funeral services will be held on Sunday, June 1, 2025, at 3:00 p.m. from the Chapel of Coggins Funeral Home. The family will receive friends on Sunday, June 1, 2025, from 2:00 p.m.-3:00 p.m. at Coggins Funeral Home. ***Click Here to View Live Stream***
