Zanante Petricio Razmilic

Mr. Zanante Petricio Razmilic, 65, of Gastonia, died Saturday, March 17, 2012 at Gaston Memorial Hospital. He was born February 28, 1947 into a Croatian family, a son of the late Zanante Krstulovic Razmilic and Vjera Obilinovic Petricio, in Antofagasta in the Atacama desert of northern Chile. At the age of 22 he came to the United Sates to attend college and stayed there most of his life. While studying in Colorado, he met Barbara Dugan, with whom he would share 40 years. After 17 years of marriage, they had a son, who was born in the same Chilean town as his father. His adventurous spirit took him to many places in the world and in all of them he left an impression that will never be erased. He conquered everyone with his charm and good looks. He was deeply loved and generous with his love. Zan devoted his life to his family and to what he liked the most, the pleasure of a "la buena mesa"-- good food and wine in good company. He pursued his passion to perfection as part of his job and shared this passion with all. He was an important part of the life of so many friends and relatives. He offered good advice on how to get the best out of life. His last act of wisdom was to let go when he felt it was time. Without people like Zan, the world would be grey and dull. He was a permanent sparkle and a strong wall, on which to lean. Survivors of Mr. Razmilic include his loving wife of 40 years, Barbara Dugan (de Razmilic) of Gastonia; son, Zanante Dugan Razmilic of Wilmington, NC; brother, Sacha Razmilic and wife Nani; sisters, Hanja Razmilic; Tonka Winter and husband Jorge all of Santiago, Chile; and many cousins, nieces, nephews and relatives living in Chile. A Memorial Prayer Service will be held 7:00pm, Tuesday, March 20, 2012 at Queen of the Apostles Catholic Church in Belmont with Father Frank Cancro serving as celebrant. The family will receive friends from 6:00pm to 7:00pm, prior to the Prayer Service in the Sanctuary. His remains will be returned to Hornitos, the beach in Chile, where he spent his summers with his family.
