Mark Dobis, age 74, of
Hobart, IN, passed away on Friday, June 9, 2023.
Mark is survived by his wife of 49 years, Janet Dobis; children: Jennifer (Steven Dahn) Lantgen and Jill Dobis; grandchildren: Kataryna Lantgen and Leonidas Lantgen.
Mark was preceded in death by his parents: Anthony and Bernice Dobis; and son, Matthew Dobis.
Mark graduated from Lew Wallace High School, Class of 1967. He worked for the Lake County Sheriffs Department for 38 years, Badge #122. Mark was hired there in 1971 and was a bailiff for the Lake County Criminal Courts for 11 years. He was a member of the FOP 125 and was an avid fisherman and gardener. Mark enjoyed hunting and watching the various wildlife that visited his back yard. Most of all he enjoyed traveling with his wife, Janet.
Friends may visit with the family on Wednesday, June 14, 2023 at Geisen-Pruzin Funeral & Cremation Services, 6360 Broadway, Merrillville, IN 46410, from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm.
Funeral Services will be at 10:00 am on Thursday, June 15, 2023 at the Funeral Home with Pastor Jamie Constant officiating. Interment to follow at Calumet Park Cemetery in Merrillville, IN.
