Zoey Given Obituary

Zoey Anna Cash Given, 51, of Fort Lauderdale, Florida, passed away peacefully, surrounded by love and family on the early morning of Sunday, October 19, 2025.

Born July 20, 1974, in Memphis, Tennessee, to Joseph Irvin Cash, Jr. and Sandi Lynn Cash, Zoey lived a life overflowing with energy, compassion, and grace.

She attended Immaculate Conception Cathedral High School, where she excelled academically and as a leader-participating in numerous clubs and achieving the top ACT score in her class.

In 1992, Zoey met the love of her life, Robert Earl Given, Jr., at O'Charley's in Memphis, where Robert was a bartender. Their first date on July 17, 1992, began a lifelong love story. Robert proposed under a shooting star at the Breakers Hotel in Palm Beach on May 2, 1998, and they married one year later-on July 17, 1999, at the Cathedral of Memphis-exactly seven years to the hour after their first date.

Zoey and Robert built their first home in Memphis before moving to South Florida in 1996. They eventually settled in Fort Lauderdale's Rio Vista, where they raised their two beloved sons, Nathan (Nate) Rex Given and Jonathan Paul (JP) Given.

Zoey graduated from Palm Beach Community College in 1999 as a Registered Nurse. She worked in the Emergency Room at North Broward Hospital in Pompano Beach until 2005, where her calm professionalism, empathy, and humor touched countless lives. Friends, family, and neighbors often sought her medical insight-she could make anyone feel safe, understood, and cared for.

Zoey also dedicated herself to her community. She served nearly a decade with The Charity Guild of Fort Lauderdale, giving her time and heart to families in need. She was an active member of the Lauderdale Yacht Club Tennis Team and worked as a school nurse at her son's schools - St. Mark's Episcopal School and St. Thomas Aquinas High School, where she also volunteered countless hours and her care and expertise made her a trusted and beloved presence.

A lifelong learner, Zoey loved reading, solving puzzles, and staying active. She also cherished her tennis and Keys girl's adventures-often shared with her dear friends Tanya Remy and Corrinne Weins, and occasionally enjoyed a little Fireball and laughter along the way.

She found joy in simple pleasures: a spirited game of Canasta or Shanghai Rummy, movie marathons with popcorn, and long conversations filled with laughter. Her card tables were always lively, and her warmth made every gathering sparkle. She even drew her mother-in-law, Glenna, into her local Canasta club, creating a new circle of friendship and fun.

Zoey's adventurous spirit carried her around the world. She loved traveling with her family, planning thoughtful, detailed trips that reflected her care for each person's interests. Every journey-whether abroad or close to home-was filled with discovery, laughter, and connection.

At home, holidays were magical. Her Christmas trees-each uniquely themed and lovingly decorated-reflected her creativity and joy for life. She found fulfillment in bringing people together, ensuring every guest felt included, valued, and loved.

Zoey embodied kindness, intelligence, and quiet strength. She lived to serve her family, friends, and community, leaving behind a legacy of compassion, humor, and light.

She is survived by her devoted husband, Robert Earl Given, Jr.; her sons, Nate and JP; her parents, Joseph and Sandi Cash; and her brothers, Rohn Andrew Cash (Joanna) of Tampa, Florida, and Gene Neel Cash (Theresa) of Byhalia, Mississippi. She will be deeply missed by her extended family, friends, and all whose lives she touched.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Monday, November 3, 2025, from 2:30 to 7:00 p.m. at the Lauderdale Yacht Club. A private family burial will follow at the Historic Evergreen Cemetery of Fort Lauderdale.

Zoey-Zo, Aunt Zoey, Nurse Zoey, Sis - you will be forever loved, remembered, and celebrated. Your light will continue to shine through every life you touched.

I had the pleasure of knowing Zoey as one of her fitness trainers. She was so fun to train, and always wanted to improve during every workout. She loved tennis, and we worked together to improve her speed, footwork, and power. She always had a smile that would light up the gym and all the other trainers loved her as well. She will be missed by us all, and she was one a kind. With love always, Neal

I remember Zoey going with her old aunt to see a Celine Dion concert in Memphis in the early 90's. We had to run to get to our seats on time & she had to wait for me a couple of times. I remember many wonderful Christmases at her family home on Holmes Rd. in Memphis. I remember a beautiful toddler, who was a poster child for china dolls, who grew into a beautiful woman...
