Zona Sue Wood Evans age 86 of Bellefontaine Mississippi, passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 1, 2025, at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo. Sue was born on March 19, 1939 in Alva, Mississippi. Sue attended Holmes Community College. She worked at Bryan Brothers in West Point, Mississippi and then as the bookkeeper for Wilson Leather Company in Bellefontaine, Mississippi for forty plus years. She was a faithful devoted member of Fellowship Baptist Church in Bellefontaine, Mississippi and pillar in her community. She loved and was loved by many. Sue enjoyed cooking, baking and sharing her delicious desserts with others. Sue enjoyed gardening and always had beautiful flowers. Sue was an avid sports fan and enjoyed cheering on her MSU Bulldogs. She loved her family well and was a beautiful example of Christ to everyone. She cherished her time spent with family and friends. Mrs. Sue is survived by her daughter, Marla Carol Evans (Mike) McLellan of Greenwood, Mississippi; grandson, Mack (Laura) McLellan of Oxford, Mississippi and a host of nieces and nephews whom she loved and adored. She is preceded in death by her husband, James Henderson Evans of fifty-five years; her parents, Everette and Clydie Sue Wood; her siblings, Marvin B. (Bonnie) Wood, Gene Lemoine (Polly) Wood, Thomas Everette (Sue) Wood, Marcille (Ervin) Ingram; nephew, Kenny Ingram and her great nephew Matthew Aubrey Roberts of Texas. Funeral Services for Mrs. Sue Evans will be held at 11:00AM on Wednesday, November 5, 2025, at Fellowship Baptist Church in Bellefontaine, Mississippi. The family will receive friends and loved ones for a time of visitation on Wednesday, November 5, 2025, from 10:00AM until time for services at 11:00AM at Fellowship Baptist Church. Interment will follow at North Union Cemetery in Bellefontaine, Mississippi. The Graveside/Committal Services will be held at Fellowship Baptist Church instead of North Union Cemetery. Rev. Mitch McWilliams, Dr. Allen Simpson and Rev. Josh Bingham will officiate the services. Pallbearers will be Chris Ingram, Mike Ingram, Tarrer Ingram, Greg Latham, Michael Evans "Mack" McLellan and Michael Roberts. Honorary Pallbearers are Mrs. Sue's great nephews, Alex Ingram, Cam Ingram, Drew Ingram, Ethan Ingram, Eli Ingram, Jason Ingram, Joey Ingram, Josh Ingram, James Thomas Latham, Matt Rimmer and Will Wood. Oliver Funeral Home of Eupora is honored to be serving the Evans family and is in charge of all arrangements.
