Zota Mae Baker, a beacon of joy and kindness, passed away on December 1, 2024, at the age of 89 at McDonald County Living Center in Anderson, Missouri. She was born on June 24, 1935, in Joplin, Missouri to the late Ernest and Fern (McGinnis) Crantz.
Her vibrant spirit and warm heart touched everyone she met. Zota's zest for life was evident in her love for shopping. Her sweet tooth was well known, and she could often be found savoring her favorite ice cream, a testament to her belief in enjoying the small delights life offers. Animals held a special place in Zota's heart, with her adoration most profoundly bestowed upon her cherished Princess. Princess was not just a pet but the light of Zota's life, her loyal companion, and a source of endless affection and comfort. Zota's charm and grace were recognized by many, leading to her representation of the McDonald County Living Center in Springfield, Missouri, as the Queen. This honor was a reflection of her positive impact and the respect she garnered within her community. She was part of the Eastern Star in 1965 in Arkansas, and later joined Forsyth, Mo.
She will be deeply missed, but her spirit will forever remain in the hearts of her friends.
A funeral service will be held on Friday. December 6, 2024 at 1:00 p.m. at Parker Mortuary, Joplin, MO. Burial to follow at Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery, Joplin, MO.
