THE REV. DAVID DOUGLAS SPAULDING obituary, 1952-2021, Jacksonville, FL

DAVID SPAULDING Obituary

David Douglas Spaulding, 69, was called home by his heavenly father on Aug. 19, 2021. He succumbed to a myriad of complications from his prolonged fight with Neuroendocrine Tumor Cancer and his recent fight with Melanoma Cancer.
David was born Aug. 17, 1952 in Jamestown, New York to Carol and Douglas Spaulding. David married his best friend and soulmate, Jeanne Ann Rowe, on June 30, 1979.
David was the greatest! He had the unique talent of being able to talk to anyone, turn them into a lifelong friend and offer them advice that would change their lives forever. David loved all people and seemed to have an endless supply of compassion and concern for everyone. He was a family man who loved his wife, children and grandchild with his whole heart and soul. David's favorite things included God, Family, Disney, Fireworks, Christmas, and a nice charcuterie board.
David was an educated man who had a a Master of Business Administration from Nova Southeastern University and a Master of Divinity from Duke University.
For the last 28 years, David was a pastor for the United Methodist Church. He spent much of his time in the ministry supporting the Florida Conference of the United Methodist Church at Christ Community UMC, Murray Hill UMC, Spring Glenn UMC, and Hernando UMC.
His personal motto was to "Make a Difference." During his retirement celebration, he was lucky enough to hear or read the many testaments of how he impacted and changed people's lives. David's life was a living example of his favorite Bible verse, Ephesians 4:32 - "And be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving one another, just as God also forgave you in Christ."
David is survived by his mother, Carol Spaulding; sister and husband, Susan and Ted Altland; sister and husband, Sandy and Tom Powers; wife, Jeanne Spaulding; daughter and husband, Lisa and Clay Maddox; son and wife, John and Courtney Spaulding; grandson, Jasper Maddox and faithful companion, Barnabus Spaulding. He was also survived by a plethora of cousins, nieces, and nephews, all of whom he loved and connected with deeply.
Please join us celebrating his life Friday morning, August 27 beginning 11 a.m. at Spring Glenn UMC, 6007 Beach Boulevard, Jacksonville, Fla. In lieu of flowers or gifts, donations may be made to a foundation that greatly impacted David's life, the Neuroendocrine Tumor research foundation at https://netrf.org.
