Zula Mae "Mattress" Adger

Zula Mae Adger, 85, widow of Early Adger, Jr., passed at Achieve Health and Rehab Center on Saturday, May 10, 2025.

Zula Mae was born in Anderson County, the daughter of the late Clarence and Frances Moore Mattress. She was a member of Mt. Moriah Baptist Church, where she served with Circle #2 of the Women's Missionary Society. She was also a former member of Holy Creek Baptist Church, where she served as a musician.

In addition to her parents, Zula Mae was preceded in death by her husband, her son, Early Adger III, two sisters, Lenora Mattress and Elizabeth Williford and one brother, Bobby Mattress.

Zula Mae leaves to cherish fond memories, sister, Gracie Bell Mattress; brother, Willie Clarence Mattress; devoted nephew, Milford Horace Adger, Jr., devoted daughter-in-law, Everette Adger; brother-in-law, Milford Horace Adger, Sr.; nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends.

Funeral services are 1 p.m. Saturday at Mt. Moriah Baptist Church with burial to follow in the church cemetery. Public viewing is Friday from 2 – 6 p.m. at D. B. Walker Funeral Services, and the body will be placed in the church Saturday at noon.

Family members are at their respective homes.
