NAPA - Alice S. McClaflin, 97, of Napa, CA passed away peacefully at home on March 4, 2024.
Alice Anna Studeny was born in Chicago, IL, to Anton and Helen Studeny, October 21, 1926. She graduated from Lindblom High School and went on to study piano, music theory, and pipe organ at the American Conservatory of Music in Chicago. Alice had a 38-year career with Illinois Bell Telephone Company in the Comptrollers Department. Alice and her sister Ruth enjoyed the adventures of traveling and by the time Alice turned 30 years old, she had already logged 50,000 air miles. She continued to travel annually throughout the world after Ruth married.
In 1987, Alice married and moved to Napa, CA, with her husband, retired US Army Major Frank Lee McClaflin. Throughout her years in Napa, she was a member of St. Apollinaris, exercised well into her 90's at Healthquest, and was an avid acrylic artist at the Napa Senior Center. Alice was always glad to liven up an event by offering to play piano!
Alice is survived by her three nieces: Barbara Hayes of Seattle, WA, Patricia Hayes-Danitz (Brian), and children, Nisa Danitz and Simon Danitz of Menlo Park, CA, and Catherine Proctor (Stan) of Conover, NC. She is preceded in death by her husband of 24 years, retired US Army Major Frank Lee McClaflin of Napa; her parents, Anton and Helen Studeny of LaGrange Park, IL; her brother, Henry Studeny of LaGrange Park, IL; and her sister, Ruth Studeny Hayes of Newton, NC.
The family would like to express their deep appreciation to Chris and Anne Gustin, and their son Spencer for all their help and kindness over the years. The family would also like to thank Rose Mich and her staff at R. E. Homecare Services for the dedicated and excellent care they provided to Alice during her last years.
