Christopher G Burquez
1953 - 2022
Christopher G Burquez, born a Bay Area Native in Napa, CA to Edward and Alicia G Burquez, has completed his walk of life on Mother Earth and has started his new journey to Our Creator on July 3, 2022. Chris grew up Mexican American in a large loving family and through his love of genealogy found he was a product Indigenous Native People.
Chris started his career as a water treatment operator in Napa and thru continued education became a loved superintendent of EBMUD's largest water treatment plant in Orinda, CA from which he retired. Chris attended Pow Wows to learn more of his family ancestry and to embrace the culture and spirituality it brought to his life. He began photographing his fellow Indigenous People, beautiful sunrises, sunsets, and ceremonies. This led Chris from a hobby of photographing Native Cultural Events to becoming a contributing Independent Photographer for the Native News Online Journal. Chris was invited to attend and participate in The Sacred Circle with our Elders. It is an honor for Chris and our family to follow the beliefs of our Ancestors and his family is grateful for all the research of old archives, DNA studies, genealogy, and travels to find our heritage. Chris enjoyed traveling with the love of his life, his Wife, Nora Lee Burquez. Together they explored and went on many adventures listening to music the entire way.
Chris was predeceased by his parents and leaves behind his wife, Nora Lee Burquez; his son, Raymond Burquez; his daughter, Christina Burquez; children from Nora; and a large loving family of brothers, sisters, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
While Christopher was taken from us far too soon, he was a courageous warrior throughout his life. We love you Chris.

So sorry to hear of Chris's passing. I worked with him at the Orinda plant for 9 years. You will be in my prayers. He was a great person.

Chris was a kind, gentle, caring, patient, and wonderful person. He was always someone you could count on no matter what the difficulty. It was my honor and privilege to call him my friend. I will miss talking and laughing with him. My sympathy to his family for their loss.
