Deanna Lord Higgins

1954 - 2021

Deanna Lord Higgins, a longtime resident of Calistoga, passed away quietly in her sleep January 15th, 2021, with her beloved Clifford by her side.

Deanna was born December. 8, 1954, in Lynwood, CA, to Kenneth and Jeanne Lord.

Deanna could accomplish anything she set her mind to do as she was a gifted chef, hospitable innkeeper and design entrepreneur. She will always be fondly remembered for her love of the Napa Valley.

Deanna worked many years in the food industry in many capacities. One of her life's greatest joys was when she and her husband, Mike Higgins, opened The Filling Station, a Long Beach, California restaurant. Together they took the restaurant industry by storm! Equip with a deep love of food, love of their customers and most of all, love for each other, the restaurant thrived!

As years past, the Napa Valley was calling their name. One day searching the real estate market they found their Napa Valley dream home. With Mike's savvy wood crafting skills and Deanna's culinary genius, they opened one of the first Bed and Breakfasts in Calistoga. Deanna spent the next 30 years welcoming guests from around the globe with open arms.

The Lord family is small in number, but strong in heart. Deanna is survived by her mother: Jeanne Lord, sisters: Kristi (Dan) Esmay, Darrylin (Brad) Mollath, nephews Zac Petersen, Tayler Petersen, Joseph Mollath, and nieces: Jenny (Robbins) Spurlock, Molly (Robbins) Crum, and Hannah (Mollath) Gallo. Preceding her in death are her husband: Mike Higgins, father: Kenneth Lord, brother Mike Lord and sister: Karen (Lord) Robbins.

We know that Deanna is at peace because she lived life to the fullest and was so loved. We will miss Deanna beyond words, but know she is watching out for all of us making sure we keep doing the right things: helping others, eating well and walking her dog!

Because of Covid-19, no public service will be held until a future date.

I first read of Deanna's passing at a Lynwood High Facebook site - and so many classmates wrote tributes to her there. We had classes together and Francettes together - and she just always impressed me. Such a classy woman as a teenager! Grief is hard when we miss our loved ones. May God give you comfort during this time.

So sad to hear that Deanna has passed away. I have so many fond memories of Deanna, but especially will miss her wry sense of humor. Working for her at the Filling Station, staying in in her B & B with my wife, and eating her delicious food at different assorted gatherings are just a few of these fond memories. My heartfelt sympathy to Mrs Lord, Darrilyn, and Kristi and all her nieces and nephews. Now she can join Mike and Karen and devise a new endeavor or project to bring to fruition in heaven. She will be truly missed.

I lost my son last July, and I know my heart will never be the same again. My heart goes out to you. You will be in my prayers that God will give you the strength to get through this. Words fail me.

Deanna - you were such a friend to me when I moved to Lynwood in High School. I have so many wonderful memories of you - sharing our last 2 years of high school, sharing our new loves in our life Mike for you and Allan for me. So sorry to hear about Deanna´s passing. When they were still in So Cal, I sold them that property on Spring and never witnessed two people so passionate about their new endeavor. At least they are back together.

I counted Deanna as one of my dearest friends in the world. She had a huge influence on me that I don´t think she even realized. I will miss her more than I can even imagine. I picture heaven as being able to eat Deanna´s food everyday accompanied by a lovely Napa wine. Miss you already my dear friend.
