Frank John Lohwasser

1933 - 2023

Frank John Lohwasser was born in San Francisco on October 29, 1933 and passed away on November 12, 2023. His parents were immigrants from Liechtenstein and Germany. Frank was raised in San Francisco and graduated from Archbishop Riordan High School. He was proud to be a part of the City Championship basketball team.

After graduation, Frank served in the Army. After he was discharged from the Army he returned to San Francisco and began his career in various hotel endeavors. Frank worked in San Fransisco, San Diego, Las Vegas, and ended up at the Napa Valley's beautiful Meadowood Resort until he retired. Frank enjoyed surfing and vacationing in Maui. He enjoyed the small town life in Calistoga. He was a fixture at a local gym for many years. He would visit with neighbors on his daily walks through town. Frank was an avid Bay Area sports team fan and rarely missed a game. Many members of his family live in the Napa Valley and they often have celebrations together. He recently celebrated his 90th birthday with a wonderful surprise party with many of his family and friends.

Frank was predeceased by his parents, Franz and Agatha Lohwasser, and his sister, Charlotte 'Lottie' Booth and is survived by his sister, Anne Rexach.

Frank is survived by his three children, Thomas, Frank Jr., and Cathleen Lohwasser. He was a proud grandfather to Darren Loveland (Karyn), Jorden Lohwasser, Jenny Gass, Julie Holme (Craig), Becky Lohwasser, and Michael Lohwasser (Heather) and great-grandchildren Allison and Lucas Gass, Mia and Austin Holme, Avery Harrill, and Miles and Lucy Loveland. He is also survived by his niece and nephews, George Casey (Lottie), Steven Mendez (Anne), and Juana Calhoun (Anne), his daughter in law, Donna Lohwasser, and his beloved friend, Ruth Gelinas.
