Gloria Garibaldi Obituary
Gloria is survived by her daughter Mitzi Peterson of Napa, CA, and her son David (Maria) Garibaldi of San Jose, CA. She will be missed by her beloved grandchildren Shawn Peterson of Santa Cruz, CA; Alana (Nam) Garibaldi of Long Beach, CA; Nicholas Garibaldi of Monterey, CA; and Julia Garibaldi of Laguna Niguel, CA. She is survived by her beloved niece Della Williams of Sterling, CO; loving grandnieces Deana (Barry) Mason, Pam (Marv) Firtig of Sterling, CO; Rhonda Miner of Denver, CO; grandnephews Brandon (Jessica) Mason, Kevin (Leslie) Mason of Merino, CO; Rick (Monica) Crum of Caney, KS; Rod (Jenna) Crum of Stuart, FL; and many more.
Gloria was born and raised in Sterling, CO, the youngest daughter of Silvio and Lena Bassi. In her younger years Gloria worked as a bank teller until she moved to Boulder, CO and was employed at the University of Colorado. Later she moved to Sidney, NE where she worked at a Pontiac dealership as a bookkeeper and secretary. For better pay she joined many to go to "Sioux Ordinance Army Depot" in Sidney, NE during the war time.
In 1951 she moved to Napa, CA to join her parents and sister. She immediately was hired at Mare Island Naval Shipyard where she met and then married the love of her life for 58 years Bill Garibaldi until his passing. Gloria and Bill always worked together in their businesses; whether motels in Sacramento, or the RV business in Napa, until their retirement. After that they enjoyed traveling. They loved cruises and visited places all around the world. Gloria was an energetic person who loved to dance and entertain friends. Gloria was an active member of: The Order of Sons and Daughters of Italy (45 years), Lilac Branch of Children's Hospital, Napa Valley Republican Women Federation, St. Apollinaris Catholic Church, and former member of Epsilon Sigma Alpha Sorority.
Gloria was predeceased by her parents, brother Arthur, sisters Justina Frasca, Genevieve Bassi, and beloved grandson Kristopher Peterson.
Her humor, generosity, and selfless spirit will be missed.
A private, family service will take place at Tulocay Cemetery. Memorial donations may be offered to the organization of your choice in honor of Gloria's community spirit.

Dear Gloria. Always "dressed to he nines" with her hair in perfect order. Gloria was a delightful woman. She was in many organizations in the Napa Valley and was involved in each in one. I met her in the Italian Catholic Federation, the Republican Women´s Federation and we attended the same Parish. It was always a joy to see her smiling face. God bless you Gloria. Juliann

Always a smile on her face - this is how we will remember Gloria. She was our neighbor for 20+ years and, even though we moved 2 blocks away, we were but a phone call away and loved seeing her name appear on our phone. We will miss her! Our deepest condolences to all of her family.

I knew Gloria for years, met her first in Italian Catholic Federation. She kept trying to get me to join Sons & Daughters of Italy, which I finally did. Energetic is a good description - she was always busy helping somewhere, and always with a smile. I was just thinking about her the other day! So very sorry for your loss, she will be missed.

I have know this wonderful lady for years. As members of both the sons and daughters of Italy and republican womens club. Always a big smile to match her wonderful loving personality. Im so very sorry for your loss. I know she is smiling down on her family in friends from above. RIP Gloria.....

My husband Ted and I met Gloria and Bill cause we too loved to dance as they did. One of our fondest memories was when a group of dancers from Napa went on a cruise to Argentina to learn to dance the Argentina Tango. We had a lot of laughs during that trip and we really didn´t get as good as the Argentina Tango street dancers but had so much fun. Gloria was a wonderful uplifting and beautifully dressed lady always. Lil and Ted Witten.
