Joen McDaniel Obituary

Joen Marie Jaeger McDaniel was born, in Napa, California on November 22, 1959, to Marshall and Billie Jaeger. We lost Joen, unexpectedly, from a sudden illness, on Saturday, November 1st, 2025, at the age of sixty-five, leaving behind a legacy of love and cherished memories. A shining star, Joen touched everyone she met with her infectious personality and warm heart.

Joen, a fourth generation Jaeger, spent her entire life in Napa County where she met and married her husband, Gary Ray McDaniel. They raised two sons, Gary Cole McDaniel and Bryan Joseph McDaniel.

Having a distinguished career in Banking, Joen's professional accomplishments were matched only by her kindness and generosity. Joen started her successful banking career with Bank of America, in Napa. She continued her career with Citicorp Savings & Loan, in St. Helena, Manager for Independence Savings & Loan, in Fairfield, Vice President of Operations for The Vintage Bank, in Napa, Napa Community Bank as Senior Vice President of Operations, in Napa. Joen completed her career in Finance as the Accounts Payable Manager for Lixit Corporation, on November 1st.

Joen was a leader in several community service clubs; active with the Boys and Girls Club of Napa Valley where she was a long-time board member and past president, a board member of the Wolfe Center and a member of the Sunrise Rotary Club. Joen volunteered her services, for ten years as Secretary-Treasurer for the Carneros Fire Department. She was an avid supporter of the Wildlife Rescue Center, in Napa. Joen devoted herself to her children's and grandchildren's schools and sports activities. She never missed a game or a performance. She loved camping trips with family and friends; and enjoying time in the garden on weekends, accompanied by her dogs. Her annual focus was the family reunion at Monterey Dunes, enjoying family and her early morning walks on the beach, with coffee in hand.

Survivors include her parents Marshall and Billie Jaeger; husband Gary Ray McDaniel; sons Gary Cole McDaniel and Bryan Joseph McDaniel (Elizabeth); grandchildren, Gianna Rose McDaniel and Jared Cole McDaniel, Callie Marie McDaniel, Archer Dominic McDaniel, and Oliver Bradley McDaniel; brother Jeffrey Allen Jaeger (Maria) and many nieces and nephews.

Joen's passing leaves a void in the lives of those who knew her, but her legacy of love, laughter and inspiration will continue to shine brightly. We ask that you not only remember the way her life ended but remember the life she lived.

I was so shocked & saddened to hear of Joeni's passing. Gone to soon! I actually ran into her while we were picking up mail at the post office a couple times over the past couple if years. Joen our families ties have intertwined for years. But, our latest interaction will always hold a special place in my heart....when you reached out to me in regards to our families fight with Leukemia. I did not want to talk to anyone ... I just wanted it to go away..... but you gave me some wonderful advice and I will treasure your words until we win and will gladly share them with others. I will miss your incredible smile and laugh. May you know what a difference you made in so many lives and your perpetual light will always be bright.

Sending our deepest condolences to Joen's family. Such sad news. We've known her since high school and her folks were at our kids basketball games at napa high, great Indian fans! They watched their grand daughter's games. Joen hired me at The Vintage Bank and she was a terrific boss. We saw her on mother's day 2 years ago at Sweetie Pies with her family. We hugged and it was an awesome memory. She met our first grandson there. Our world is less bright without her shine.

My condolences to everyone in Joen's family. I first met Joen at Browns Valley and later her and my sister Jill became friends. I worked at Rabobank the same time Joen did and we briefly connected. When my first granddaughter was born Joen sent my a Grandma Brag Book which was such a thoughtful gift. May you feel the love and prayers being sent your way. She will be missed by many.
