Kathy Ann Wheeler

1951 - 2021

Kathy Ann Wheeler, age 69, passed away February 8th, 2021 peacefully in her home after fighting a long and heroic battle of pancreatic cancer. At the time of her passing she was surrounded with love, her family and her best friend at her bedside. In 1951, Kathy was born in Riverton Wyoming to Elmer and Amy Wheeler. She was the youngest of 4 siblings and always referred to herself as the "baby" of the family. Her upbringing consisted of homesteading on farm land, to living in a Motel that her parents bought as an investment, to living on a ranch near the Napa airport and finally settling in American Canyon. She was Daddy's farm girl and inherited his traits and love for animals. She met an married Donald Heatherly, now divorced, at the young age of 17 and had two girls, Rachael in 1970, and Amy in 1972. Her careers consisted of working as a Teacher's Aid in the kindergarten classroom at Donaldson Way Elementary, then with people with disabilities and mental illness. She was employed over 20 years at Buckelew Programs in Napa and Marin County.

Kathy was a dedicated mother first and foremost. She loved her children hard and with an open heart. She considered her daughters her best friends. Her son in law, David Lanoue, quickly became the son she never had. She especially loved her grandkids, Samantha and Tucker Lanoue. She openly embraced every moment she had with them and spent regular weekly time with them to the point that they each had their own room in her house. Kathy spent years volunteering at her daughters school and later took that same passion to her grandkids school, and volunteered there as well alongside her daughter, Amy.

he was funny, spunky, bold, brave, quick witted, loving, young at heart and always ready for a good time. She loved spending time with her family, her dogs, Jilly Bean and Max, watching TV, arts and crafts, cooking and most of all playing games.

Kathy is survived by her siblings, Ed Wheeler, Linda Skipper and husband Ron, daughter Rachael Heatherly and boyfriend Chad Boerst, daughter Amy Lanoue and husband David, grandkids Samantha and Tucker Lanoue, nephew, Brian Skipper and wife Brittany and great nephews Jonah and Theo and nieces Teresa and Susie Fowler. Along with family, Kathy survived her beloved friend Mary Renz and the "girls", and many more, some of which became family; Carlos Eyler and Son Josiah, Stephanie Hoehn, daughter Jewel, Maxwell Dineen, Sheila Risi, and daughter Delilah. She will be missed by all.

Due to COVID the family will be postponing the service.
