Lorraine Yates
Oct. 6, 1932 - Oct. 27, 2023
NAPA - Lorraine was born in San Francisco, October 6, 1932, to the late Evelyn (Batto) and Henry Markt. Lorraine's two sisters, Barbara McPherson and Diane Opperman predeceased her.
Lorraine spent her younger years in Sonoma attending Huichica School in Vineberg, with all eight grades in one room. The family moved to Napa, the Carneros District in 1944, where she worked on their pear ranch while attending Napa schools and graduating from Napa High School in 1950.
In November 1951, Lorraine married her high school sweetheart, Robert Yates at the Presbyterian Church in Napa, and within 48 hours was on her way to Pensacola, FL. Bob was in the Navy and stationed in Pensacola, their first home and the birth place of their daughter. Lorraine traveled to several duty stations during the 24 years of his service. Upon Bob's retirement in 1975, they toured several states for ten months in their RV.
Lorraine's family was the most important part of her life. She also enjoyed gardening, traveling, fishing, crabbing and volunteering. She served on the Queen of the Valley Foundation Board, Grand Jury, Past President of The Napa High Alumni Association and a member of the Napa County Navy League.
Lorraine is survived by their daughter, Roberta Yates, and her husband, Dave Schwarze, granddaughter, Amie Fowler, and great-granddaughter, Kaila Fowler; along with several nieces and nephews.
At Lorraine's request there will be no services.
Memorial contributions can be made to the Providence Hospice Napa Valley and Napa Humane Society.
