Mario "Mick" Conti Jr.

Mario Conti Obituary

Mario "Mick" Conti, Jr.

Mick was the kind of guy you want to sit and have a beer with because he always made your day better. The man could tell a story like no one else, and most of the time it was true.

Mick was born in Napa, to Mario Conti Sr and Patricia Conti. He went to St. John's Grammar School, and then Napa High, where he met his first wife Janice. They had one child, Noelle. He later moved to Alaska and met his partner-for-life, Sarah Burt. The two eventually moved to Southern California, where he lived the rest of his life. Mick's father owned an Italian market and butcher shop in Napa, and, like his dad, Mario spent his life working in grocery. His true talent, however, was his ability to make friends with everyone, everywhere. If Mick was with you, you were laughing.

Mario died of cancer on December 8, 2024. He is survived by his life-long love Sarah Burt, his daughter Noelle, his three sisters Pat Conti, Judi Frame and Carole Wallace his nieces and nephew, Angie, Dede, Gen, April and Dean, and his close friend Don Perry, as well as many, many friends. Next time you are at a baseball or football game enjoying your beer think of Mario and smile. Go Niners! Go Giants!

Don's words mirror my exact feelings.I met mick at the start of my grocery career and what a help and inspiration he was! Job skill, his humor, along with a great attitude always made you strive to put forth your best. The time we shared at the Vallejo store will always be cherished. You never knew what he might come up with next in any given situation, but guaranteed to produce a belly laugh. One of my greatest memories is a time we went on a fishing trip to Hat Creek;I said let's try the trophy section where the fly fisherman go,but only having spinning rods and no waders meant a little greenhorn creativity was necessary,so we rigged with flies but needed added casting weight that would float,so the good ole red/white bobber was attached.I said this may get some looks so we kept our distance from the 'Purists' however walking back to the truck Mick encountered one who laughingly asked,"What do you plan on catching with that big bobber?",Without hesitation Mick looked him straight in the eye and said,"Big GD fish",needless to say that man walked away with tail tucked firmly between his legs!I will greatly miss my dear friend, but comfort comes knowing he resides with the Lord.My prayers go out to Sarah and family.

I was always proud and honored to be able to call Mario my friend. Our friendship spanned
five decades and included many shared experiences. His passing is a great loss for me and, I'm sure
for many others. I'm consoled by the realization that he had a really good life with his partner, Sarah,
a family who loved him and lots of friends and co-workers who admired him. His spontaneous
humor was only matched by his intellect, his perspective, his thoughtfulness and his compassion.
His spirit will live on with all of us who were fortunate enough to laugh and spend time with him.

I knew Mick several years ago. He was an outstanding guy. Fun to be with, always enjoyed being around him. I wish I could have known him better. I lost touch with him when Carole and I separated and really wish I could have stayed in touch. He is truly missed. Rest in peace my friend.

I am so sorry to hear that Mario has passed away. He was the closest person to what I would consider a Dad to me. He was hilarious and smart and taught me many things in life. Water skiing with him, my mom and Don Perry. Snow skiing, camping and the love of rock and roll!! One of the funniest things I remember growing was his long hair. He would stuff all of that hair into this weird short haircut wig so that he could go to work at Vallerga´s and not cut his hair!! Man, he looked like a completely different guy in that wig. He´ll be missed in this world. I have many, many fond memories out at Dealy Lane and on Main Street in Napa with the Conti´s....Good times. Love you all.
