Marlene Ridling Obituary

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved wife, mother, sister, grandmother and dear friend, Marlene Jane Ridling.

Marlene was born on March 12, 1938 in Napa, CA, to Nicholas & Minerva Ratto. She attended Napa High School where she met her lifelong best friend Barbara (Babs) Barstad. She then met the love of her life, Jack Ridling and the two were married in 1958. They bought their home in Napa and went on to raise their three children; daughter Terrie, followed by sons Kevin and Dennis.

Marlene enjoyed her years of being a homemaker with her children and even more so as Grammy to her granddaughter Alex and grandson Cole. She loved having them at the house daily before and after school and watching them grow up through all those years. Her face would really light up when she saw them or talked about them. One of her favorite hobbies was playing slot machines and she truly enjoyed her trips to Cache Creek Casino and the Peppermill Resort.

Marlene is survived by her husband Jack, daughter Terrie, sons Kevin (Danyeal), Dennis (Shelly), grandchildren Alex and Cole, sister Barbara Avis, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, sister Linda Lamie and great niece Grace Marek.

In honor of her wishes, there will be no formal service. However, a small gathering of friends and family is being planned for a time in the near future (date/time to be announced soon).

The family would like to extend their utmost gratitude to Providence Hospice for their compassion, care and support during this difficult time. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to Providence Hospice Napa Valley, Share the Care or the American Cancer Society. Marlene Jane Ridling

I saw Marlene @ Browns Valley School almost every day for years picking up her grandchildren Alex and Cole as I picked up my kids Zoe and Zane. She was always so happy to see them and a delight to talk to. My condolences to all the family.

I loved waiting on Mrs Ridling for years at Food Fair then Vallergas Market. She was a very kind woman who just radiated with love when accompanied by any of her children and grandchildren. It was always nice to see her walk in the store and to see her around Napa.
