Merry "Dawn" Redlaczyk
1945 - 2020
Merry "Dawn" Redlaczyk was born on February 7, 1945 in San Francisco, CA. Adopted at birth by loving parents Carl and Barbara, she was raised in a military family as an only child and grew up in post war Japan, the Azores, Germany, and Morocco. She attended high school in Finley, North Dakota and graduated in Sacramento, California. Dawn attended nursing school at Merritt Hospital in Oakland and graduated with a BS in Nursing from Cal State Hayward. She worked over forty years as an Intensive Care Nurse in east bay hospitals retiring in 2002 from Eden Hospital in Castro Valley.
Dawn loved to travel and visited many places throughout the world. She was an excellent cook and hosted many memorable dinner parties for friends and family. She practiced Tai Chi, was a valued member of several Bocci Ball Teams and belonged to the Pope Valley Ropers and Riders. She studied art at Napa Valley College and loved painting in water color and oils and doing needlepoint. An avid baseball fan she supported the Oakland Athletics for many years. She had a special love for animals caring for many throughout the years.
Dawn was married in May of 1995 to Barry Kessey who she first met in 1985. Together they built their dream home in Pope Valley, California.
Dawn is survived by her husband Barry, step children Sherrie (Keith), and Greg (Sandy), 5 grandchildren, 4 great grand children and her sister Maureen. She will be missed by family and many good friends.
A memorial is planned for the future to honor her life at the local cemetery in Pope Valley, CA.
