Mimi White Obituary

Marilyn Dodson "Mimi" White

Mimi passed away peacefully in her home on January 5 after 97 years of active living, including her passion for tennis, golf, gardening, bridge, and supporting the library.

Mimi grew up in San Jose and attended UC Berkeley. Following college, she moved to Lodi, where she raised three sons on a walnut orchard. Later she moved to Napa, where she married her second husband, Dr. Paul White, and spent the remainder of her days.

Mimi engaged in a wide range of activities during her 56 years in Napa, including playing tennis, golf, and bridge well into her 90s. In addition, Mimi was a friend to a wide variety of people throughout the Napa Valley, and she loved opening her home to visiting musicians, tennis players, medical professionals, and friends needing a temporary home. She also loved to travel throughout the U.S. and the world and continued to do so into her 90s.

Mimi was the first of three children of Thelma (Neely) and Glenn Dodson. She is survived by her sons, Michael (Daune Wilson), Brian (Karen), and Christopher (Patricia) Dozier, stepson Gordon White (Linda Kunze), sister Carol Jacquet, ten grandchildren, Matthew, Amy, Lea, Scott, Jimmy, Joey, Jacob, Natalie, Gordon Thomas, and Claire, and five great grandchildren.

Donations in her name can be made to Friends of the Napa Library https://folnapa.org/. Memorial services will be private.
