Nancy Shein
March 12, 1950 - June 8, 2024
NAPA - Surrounded by her loving family, Nancy Christine Shein (Desalernos), passed away at her home in Napa, CA, on June 8, 2024. She was 74.
Born in Sacramento, CA, on March 12, 1950, Nancy attended San Juan High School before studying political science at U.C. Davis. It was there she met her husband of 50 years, Steve, and started her family. The Shein's spent the majority of their adult lives in Davis, and moved to Napa in 2016 to be closer to family.
Known for her adventurous spirit and love of travel, Nancy's favorite chapter in life was likely as a grandparent. She made a point of attending every school performance and sporting event she could, even while undergoing treatment for cancer. She also made time to travel with family and friends during this era, with favorite trips to Paris, Greece, Hawaii and the mountains of Wyoming.
Nancy will be remembered for her kindness, keen sense of humor, and impeccable style. Her amazing handmade quilts will continue to bring warmth and love, as will her collection of family recipes and memories of her vivacious spirit. Her presence will be felt, and missed, any time there is a gathering of friends and family in the kitchen or around the dinner table.
Nancy is survived by her husband, Steve; sons: Dave and Nick; daughters-in-law: Amy and Jane; grandchildren: Brooke, Julia, Lauren, and Nathan; her sister and best friend, Cathy; and nephews: Zack and Kyle.

Nancy and I worked together in the mid 1970s at the State Personnel Board in Sacramento. She was a delight as a welcome co-worker. So long ago...we were "just kids" and yet I remember her fondly. I send my sincere sympathies to you-her fortunate family.
