Salvador Ochoa Obituary
In Loving Memory of Salvador "Sal" Núñez Ochoa (October 15, 1975 -September 22, 2025) who passed away suddenly on September 22, 2025 following a brief illness.
Born on October 15, 1975, in Mexico to Salvador Núñez and Mercedes Ochoa, Sal grew up in Calistoga and resided in Napa. He married his loving wife, Mary Salceda-Núñez, on August 5, 2000, and together they built a beautiful life filled with love and adventure. Sal was a proud and devoted father to Sofía and Gabriella who were his greatest sources of pride.
A true "girl dad," Sal never missed a game or a moment to cheer on his daughters. He loved coaching them when they were young and loved watching them participate in high school sports. Sports were one of Sal's greatest passions. Whether he was on the field, in the stands, or at home cheering for his beloved San Francisco Giants and 49ers, he brought joy to every moment.
Sal earned both his Bachelor's and Master's Degrees in Social Work from Sacramento State University. For nearly twenty years, he dedicated his career to helping the Napa Valley community as a Social Work Manager for the CARE Network at Providence Queen of the Valley Medical Center. He also served on the Latino Elder Coalition and the Housing and Homeless Services Committee, and mentored many new social workers along the way. His empathy towards others left a lasting mark on many lives.
Family was everything to Sal. A proud older brother to his siblings Ricardo (Paty), Octavio, and Alex (Jeanette) and a beloved son to Salvador and Mercedes Núñez, he loved his family dearly including his nieces and nephews, cousins and his dear friends that he considered family. He loved getting together often. Known for being an exceptional host, cooking was his love language and hosting meals was one of the ways he brought people together for good food and celebration.
Sal was also an adventurous spirit who found great joy in traveling. Yosemite held a special place in his heart from his college days and became a beloved family tradition throughout the years. Cancún was another favorite destination-his happy place in the sun-where he effortlessly made friends wherever he went. He also cherished his travels through Europe, especially his most recent trip in 2024, celebrating his daughter Sofía's Quinceañera across Greece, Italy, and France. A true lover of life, Sal will be profoundly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing and loving him. Salvador Núñez Ochoa
