Herman Tatz Obituary

Herman A. Tatz (90) died at home on Saturday, February 26, 2022. He was born in Aurora, Illinois on April 23, 1931 and lived in Naperville Illinois until 2016, when he and his wife moved to Wisconsin, near their daughter Cindy. He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Dolores (Staffeldt) Tatz, his loving daughters Kathleen (Bill) Freeman of Los Angeles CA, Victoria (Rich) Jubala of Glendale AZ, Cynthia (John) Bondy of Menomonee Falls WI, and Pamela (Martin) Domovich of Keller TX as well as his beloved grandchildren Amy (David) Brasser, Cory (Holly) VanderYacht, Drew Jubala, Michael Bondy, David Bondy, and Nicholas (Romina) Domovich, and great-grandchildren Gabriel Brasser, Samuel Brasser, and Micah VanderYacht. He was preceded in death by his parents Herman and Ella Tatz, brother Harold Tatz, and sister Gertie Brown.

Herman served his country during the Korean conflict aboard the USS Coral Sea. He attended the University of Wisconsin and Southern Illinois University Graduate Banking Schools. He began his banking career at the Bank of Naperville and served as President and CEO of various suburban banks in Lisle, Oak Brook, and North Aurora. He served as president and active member of the Naperville Chamber of Commerce, founded the Lisle Rotary Club in 1973, volunteered with the Naperville Fire Department for 11 years, and was active in many civic and community activities.

Herman retired after 23 years of bank service and spent many of his retirement years vacationing in Fort Myers, Florida. He enjoyed camping, boating, playing golf, horseshoes, and shuffleboard. He especially enjoyed visits with his children and their families. Memorials may be made to St. John United Church of Christ, 1190 Olesen Dr., Naperville IL 60540, where he was a lifelong member.
