Marlene West Obituary

Marlene M. West, 79, passed away on September 18, 2017 in Kenosha, WI surrounded by her family. She was born in Redwood falls, Minnesota to the late Donald and Dorothy (Russell) King. On September 6, 1958, she married Stanley L. West of Clarkfield, MN, who preceded her in death in 2011. Marlene is survived by her children: Lisa (Bernard) Kleine; Michael (Paula) West; Stephanie (Jon) Mirkes; Grandchildren: Steven (Kathryn) Kleine, Daniel Kleine, Michael Kleine, Elle West, Caroline West, Leah West, Matthew Mirkes, Anna Mirkes, Alex Mirkes; one great grandchild, Brigitte Royer-Kleine; her siblings: Carole Walter, Russell King, Kathi Granum, Patricia Waites, and an aunt, Betty Russell. Marlene deeply loved her family and friends, but her true soft spot was for her grandchildren and great granddaughter. Everyone was her friend, whether they knew her for years or for a minute, drawn by her radiant smile. Marlene had a great sense of humor that carried her through life, and she wasn't afraid to laugh at herself. She had a zest for life, and found joy in the smallest moments. Prior to being a stay-at-home mom, Marlene attended the Minnesota School for Business in Minneapolis, MN and worked for a time as a secretary. After the children were grown, she re-entered the workforce as a dental office receptionist. Visitation for Marlene is at the Warren Funeral Home, Cemetery, & Mausoleum 1475 N. Cemetery Rd., Gurnee, IL 60031 on Saturday, October 14, 2017 from 12:00 noon until 3:00PM. Services will begin at 3:00PM at Warren Funeral home with Rev. Elizabeth Molitors presiding. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to Hospice Alliance (www.hospicealliance.org). Inurnment will take place immediately following services at Warren Cemetery. The family would like to express their heartfelt thanks to the staff at Brookdale of Kenosha, WI and Hospice Alliance for their loving care of Marlene. Condolences at www.warrencemetery.com

I would like to offer my sincere condolences to the family. It is clear Marlene was a beautiful person. Her zest for life and love of her family stands out the most. These are qualities that our loving Heavenly Father cherishes. (Proverbs 31:27-29). May each of you be comforted by your fond memories of her and the assurance held out to her at John 6:40.

I was so sorry to hear of your Mom's passing. I have good memories of herwhen we were neighbors in Huntington. She was always so cheerful and a joy to be around.
