Mary Gillespie Obituary
Beloved wife of the late John J. "Jack" Gillespie, Sr., whom she married March 31, 1951 and who preceded her in death on April 9, 2019, loving mother of John Jr. (Karen) Gillespie of Addison, IL, Peter (Lynn) Gillespie of Winfield, IL, Brian (Susan) Gillespie of Winfield, the late Kathleen (Bill) Eitzenhoefer and the late Theresa "Terry Ann" Gillespie, adored grandmother of 14 and cherished great-grandmother of 12 wonderful children; devoted daughter of the late Peter and Helen Brewer, dear sister of the late Patricia (Thomas) Callahan and the late Dolores (the late Gene) Hughes, sister-in-law of James (Josephine) Gillespie, the late William (the late Frances "Mickey") Gillespie and the late Fr. Thomas Gillespie, fond cousin, aunt, great-aunt and friend of many.
Mary grew up in Chicago's Austin neighborhood and attended Siena High School . A loving and devoted wife, mother and homemaker, Mary was a longtime, active member of St. Raphael Catholic Church in Naperville and ran the REACH Program (Religious Education Apostolate for Christian Handicapped) for many years. Mary enjoyed gardening; however, her favorite pastime was spending time with her family and many close friends.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, June 16, 2021, 4:00-8:00 PM at Friedrich-Jones Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 44 S. Mill St., Naperville, IL.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday, June 17, 10:30 AM at St. Raphael Catholic Church, 1215 Modaff Road, Naperville.
Interment: SS. Peter & Paul Cemetery, Naperville.
