Nancy Carpenter Obituary

Nancy L. "Nan" "Nanny" Carpenter (nee Toussaint), 66, a resident of Naples, FL since 2012, formerly of Naperville 1971-2012, passed away Sunday, July 12, 2015 at Edward Hospital in Naperville after a courageous battle with breast cancer. She was born on October 21, 1948 in Muscatine, IA. Beloved wife of William J. "Bill" Carpenter, whom she married October 18, 1968, loving mother of Jeffrey Scott (Nancy) Carpenter of Chicago, Andrew Ryan (Kathryn) Carpenter of Naperville and Amy Katherine (Michael) Tackett of McKinney, TX, adored grandmother of Hunter William, Alexander William, Jacob Dean, Penelope Violet, Margot Ann and Clementine Marie, devoted daughter of the late Herbert and Darlene (nee Cracraft) Toussaint, dear sister of Katherine "Kitty" (Terry) Olsen of West Des Moines, IA and David (Le) Toussaint of Willow Springs, MO, daughter-in-law of Mildred "Milly" Carpenter of Iowa City, IA and the late Roy Carpenter, sister-in-law of Jan (Marc) Key of Ojai, CA and Kay (Matthew) Rosheim of Eden Prairie, MN, fond aunt, great-aunt and friend of many. Nancy grew up in West Liberty, IA, attended West Liberty Community High School (Class of 1967) and was a graduate of Northern Illinois University in DeKalb with a degree in Special Education. She taught students with autism at Little Friends in Naperville, later worked for a brief time in the Joliet, IL public school system and for many years taught at Lincoln Academy, Roselle, IL. Nancy enjoyed golfing and was a member of Club at Mediterra in Naples, FL. She was also a talented painter, cook and seamstress who enjoyed traveling, especially to France and Italy. Nancy most loved spending time with her grandchildren and was proud to be present for all their births, including her grandchild, Jake, who was born in Iwakuni, Japan. Visitation Wednesday, July 15, 4:00-8:00 PM at Friedrich-Jones Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 44 S. Mill Street, Naperville. A celebration of Nancy's life will be held on Thursday, July 16th, 10:30 AM in the funeral home. Interment Naperville Cemetery, Naperville.
