Naples, FL
Emmett 'Garel' Lehman, 92, of Naples passed away peacefully on Friday, November 30th, 2018. Garel was born to Jacob Lehman and Myrta Kasler
Lehman of Logan, OH on August 15th, 1926.
Emmett married Winifred Ella Meek on October 5th, 1946. The Lehman's spent 68 years together before the Lord called Winnie home in 2014. Garel was also preceded in death by his son, Wilbur C. Lehman in 2003.
Garel was very proud to be a WWII veteran serving in the Cavalry in the Philippines and Japan. Upon returning home, he found a very rewarding career as a Field Engineer which lead him to construction projects throughout North America. Garel earned numerous certifications and recognitions throughout his career. The Lehman's relocated to Mason, OH where Garel worked in construction and also enjoyed being a Sherriff's Deputy.
In the late 70's the Lehman's relocated to Naples where Garel accepted a position as a master mechanic with the City of Naples where he was proud to maintain the public service vehicles. Garel enjoyed organizing the original Golden Gate Estates Area Civic Association, Frontiers Days parade/festival and he was heavily involved in VFW Post 7721. He was happy to serve as a cook as well as serving on the Color Guard Ritual Team on special occasions.
Garel is survived by two children, ten grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren, and eight great-great grandchildren.
Visitation will be at Hodges Funeral Home on Wednesday, December 5th, 2018 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM A short
service will be provided before a 1:30pm interment at Naples Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, the family would like to request donations be made to Avow Hospice of Naples.
Garel personally wanted to thank Alex with Honor Flight for being his guide and guardian during his trip of a lifetime to Washington D.C. in September 2018. He also wanted to thank his dear friend, Heather Derico for her many years of care and assistance.

Tamara has come home to be with you, Gran and my Dad. No one knows where Ron is these days. Hard to believe that nearly the whole family is together on the side. I sure do miss all of you! Yesterday, the anniversary of your passing, was a hard day for me. I cannot believe how quickly time goes by. There hasn't been a day gone by that I haven't thought of you. My dearest Grandpa,I am still having trouble believing that you have left us. Though I am so happy to know that you are in peace with Grandma and my Dad. I will certainly miss the time we have spent and the laughs we have shared. I am so thankful for the time you were able to spend with my grandchildren. They are already asking for you. I am bringing 2 of your roses from your bush to keep with you. It is so big and beautiful. Just like your heart. Until we meet again I will always remember you telling me, I will love you forever!
