George Hanlon Obituary

George Francis Hanlon

Ft. Myers, FL

George went home to God on September 13th, 2015. He was born on July 29th, 1935 to Edward and Mary (Becherer) Hanlon in Boston, Massachusetts.

George was named after his uncle who was a Jesuit priest. He was one of eleven children and is survived by his sister, Alice McCabe, and his brother, Thomas.

The most important things in George's life were his Catholic religion, family and country. He proudly served in the USMC and was active in the Marine Corp. League in Naples. A graduate of Boston College, he followed in his father's footsteps in the Hanlon Shoe Business, founded in 1927.

Skiing at Sugarloaf Mountain and sailing off the New England coast were his favorite pastimes.

George is survived by his loving wife, Kathleen (Roemer) formerly of Milton Masssachusetts and five daughters- Ellen Muratore of Naples, Kara Walsh of Naples, Jenifer Randall of Scarborough, Maine, Georgann (Gigi) Garraty of Marco Island and Kathleen Boros of Ft. Myers; nine grandchildren- Patrick, Declan, Shannon, Courtney, Carly, Ryan, Colin and Robert; great grandchildren- Lucas and Kevin George.

George and Kaye raised their children in Cohasset, Massachusetts where they resided for twenty five years. They started coming to Marco Island in the 1970's and lived there for fifteen years.

George was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He was truly blessed by our Heavenly Father. We, your family "LOVE YOU BEST"!

Funeral Mass will be held at San Marco Catholic Church, Marco Island at 11:00 AM, Tuesday, September 22nd.
