Hank Asher Obituary

Hank Asher Boca Raton, FL

Hank Asher, deeply loved husband, father, best friend, and mentor, passed away at age 61 in his Boca Raton home on January 11, 2013. Hank founded three innovative and highly successful companies: Database Technologies, Seisint, and TLO, which revolutionized how law enforcement and the private sector locates and researches individuals and businesses.

While Hank was best known for his extraordinary business accomplishments, his kind and generous nature touched the world much more profoundly. Hank's philanthropic efforts crossed continents in the areas of child protection and cancer research. Most notably, however, was the way in which he changed our hearts, one person at a time.

Hank Asher was larger than life, with his boisterous laugh that came from deep within his belly, and his infectious smile that lit entire rooms. His otherworldly brilliance was paralleled only by his extraordinary charm and generosity of heart and spirit.

With his eccentric personality and unorthodox nature, it can unequivocally be said that, "Hank did it his way." He lived life on his terms, and often bucked the system that ties the rest of us down. He spoke in the same humorously candid way to cabbies and cabinet members, always taking the time to learn everyone's personal story. Hank irrevocably changed lives, whether he knew someone for a mere moment or a lifetime.

Hank intensely loved and protected his family and friends. He was the man that everyone called upon to lead during tough struggles, and Hank tirelessly carried the torch time and time again. He turned his property into a sanctuary for rescued cats, who now live and roam in kitty paradise. His doors were always open to those in need of help and home. He was a caretaker and protector for all of us, and we are blessed and lucky to have borrowed him for 61 years.

We are deeply heartbroken to say good-bye for now, but we rejoice in knowing that Hank lives on in the hearts of many and in his life's work. The world is indeed safer because of Hank Asher, and it is now our work to keep his generosity alive.

Hank is dearly missed by his loving wife, Judith; his daughter, Desiree, and his daughter, Carly. Additionally, he is loved and mourned by his son-inlaw and dear friend, Wally; brothers, Tom and Charles; nieces, Kylea, Sarah, and Bonnie; his grand-niece, Sadie; grand-nephew, Cody; and his many, many friends.

We find solace in knowing that his spirit was welcomed by his precious sister, Sari; his father and mother, Harry and Lou; and all of his dear friends who passed before him.

The family is so grateful for the tremendous outpouring of support received during this difficult time.

A Celebration of Life is being planned for the near future, and the date will be announced.

Donations in Hank's name may be made to the Sari Asher Center for Integrative Cancer Care in West Palm Beach, FL.

I worked with and for Hank Asher. Having known him over the course of 20 years I can personally attest to his concern, love and generousity for those who needed him most. My niece needed life saving surgery and Hank sought me out and simply asked, "how much?" The check was received the very next day by my sister-in-law. My niece is now in her mid-twenties and was not supposed to live past 10 years old. Because of Hank's support and love she is still with us. I suppose I should tell you that Hank knew me, but never met my niece. He merely loved children who needed him and he was there every time to meet those needs. Thank you, my dear friend Hank. I will miss him so.

I cant believe he is gone. I met hank as a patient of my practice in 2001. He was always a kind and gerneous soul and his contribution to the world will not be forgotten. My sympathies to the entire family and I will miss him and the sound of his voice.

Hank & I first met about 15 years ago and for all the years since, I was proud to have been able to help him enjoy his love for boats, fishing, and traveling the oceans of the world. Boats were always one of his true passions and I believe that when he was on his boat he was able to find a kind of peace and serenity that was sometimes elusive when he was on solid ground dealing with all the complexities of his business and professional life. It was a great pleasure & privilege to know him. So many lives, including mine, were touched and made better by his presence in them. His is truly a great loss and I can only offer his family and friends my sincerest condolences in this time of sadness and loss for all of us. I will truly miss my friend Hank.

I met Hank in 1979. I was only 23 and he was 28. For years after we met he was a very dear friend and he showed me how to love life! We lost touch for many years, but after the death of my husband a few years ago, we spoke several times. His sense of humor and the way that he lived his life hadn't changed. I've heard many people refer to him as “colorful”. I guess that's a great way to describe him! He was like a rainbow of many components and he was unlike anyone else that I've met in my life. Hank was a very generous and caring man who will be missed by all of those who really knew him. I'll miss you Hank!

I first met Hank in Great Harbour thru a mutual friend many years ago. It wasn't till years later that I realized he would change my life forever. He helped me get into Hanley Hazelton in Dec. 1996. And it saved my life. I am still Sober today and have always felt he was the tool God used to help make my life what it is today. He will continue to have a special place in my heart and I pray his family and close friends will find Peace in their Heart to comfort them by knowing I am one of those he helped in this life.RIP Hank Love Vicki

My mother, Pilar Cron worked for Mr. Asher. When she told him she had cancer his reply to her was "You were sent to me. You are my angel." My mom spoke highly of Mr. Asher. He did so much for my mom not only in giving her a job, but getting her medical treatment and a great team of doctors. My family and I will always be grateful to Mr. Asher for the generosity and kindness he bestoed upon my mom. God Bless you Mr. Asher.
