Mary Elizabeth (Betty) Washburn Graf

Naples - Mary Elizabeth (Betty) Washburn Graf passed away peacefully in Naples, FL on June 15th at the age of 92. She was preceded in death by her husband of 68 years, Edward John Graf, and her sister, Laura Washburn Miller. Betty was born on April 1, 1929, in Shaker Heights, OH; grew up in Bexley (Columbus), OH; and attended The Ohio State University, graduating with a degree in Business. She was a member of Kappa Alpha Theta and enjoyed alumni activities her entire life. She worked as a statistician for a management consulting firm in Cleveland, OH until she decided to focus her full attention on her growing family.

She and Ed moved to the Chicago area so he could pursue an advertising career and settled in Park Ridge, IL, calling it their home for 26 years. They enjoyed many close friendships at Park Ridge Country Club. She was also an active member and volunteer with Illinois Children's Home and Aid, Infant Welfare, and the local hospital. As her children grew older, she had more time for her hobbies of golf, bridge, reading, and bocce. Travel was another passion, and she and Ed especially enjoyed European cruises.

Following her time in Park Ridge, she and Ed spent 15 years in Roswell, GA and lived in Naples, FL in Audubon Country Club and Vi at Bentley Village. As lifelong Buckeyes, they enjoyed alumni activities and getting together with other Buckeyes to watch football games.

She is survived by her daughter, Cynthia Graf Andrews, son Robert S. Graf (Renee), and five grandchildren, Christie Markvart, CJ Andrews, Scott Graf, Jackie Graf, and Andrew Graf. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Avow Hospice (1095 Whippoorwill Lane, Naples, FL 34105).

Such a beautiful lady inside and out. She and Ed were always smiling and enjoying each day to it’s fullest. Such a blessing to have enjoyed their friendships and smiles.
