Norman Joseph Yonan Naples, FL
1st Lt. Norman Joseph Yonan, 93, went to his heavenly home on Febru ary 7, 2013 after a long journey with Alzheimer's disease. He was born to Joseph and Anna Yonan in New Britain, CT. Norm graduated high school and went to university, but left to join the Army. During WW II he served in the Pacific and received many medals. After leaving the Army in 1946 he worked with his father, Joe, as an electrician and became the owner of Yonan Electric.
Norman had many interests. He played drums in a band, and semi-pro football. He was an avid fisherman. He loved to ski (especially downhill racing), and he loved oil painting. He belonged to many civic organizations and clubs. Normal always looked at the bright side of life and found good in everyone. He was always helping people. Norman and Grace retired to Naples in 1990.
He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Grace; one daughter, Pennie Stubbs; and two stepsons, Peter and Michael Lemnotis; and many loving nieces and nephews.
Norman's family would like to give special thanks to Dr. Alan Galbut who cared for him 20 years and was so gracious in his last two weeks of life. Thanks to Ardent Manor Adult Day Center and their wonderful staff. And not to forget his in home caregivers, Bonita, Jean, and Thelma. Hugs and kisses, he loved you all.
Donations to the Alzheimer's Support Network, 660 Tamiami Trail North, Suite 21, Naples, FL 34102 would be greatly appreciated, as Grace would not have made it without these wonderful, caring people.

Dear Grace & Family, Thank you for sharing dear Norman with all of us at Ardent Manor. Norman always came in with a smile on his face and song in his heart. I truly believe you are the inspiration for that. The care and love you gave him is remarkable, and know that you did everything possible to ensure the incredible life Norman lived. He is missed by many.
