1937-2017

Robert J. Whitehead of Bonita Springs, Florida, formerly of Wellesley and Dover Massachusetts passed away July 22, 2017. Beloved husband of Jane Atwood Whitehead, proud father of John F. Whitehead and Andrea Surova, loving stepfather of Hadley Wilkins Hartzell and Travis Parker Wilkins and adoring Grandpa of eight.

An accomplished athlete, insightful coach and teacher, Bob was an enthusiastic piano player and gifted photographer.

At Wheaton College in Illinois he was a two-time Little All-American selection, and his scoring prowess earned him a place on the All-Tournament First Team when the Crusaders won NCAA College Division National Championship in 1957.

After serving in the Army and earning an MBA at Harvard Business School, Bob went on to have successful investment career with Standish, Ayer and Wood, Digital Equipment Corporation and Abbott Downing. He volunteered for many organizations, including the Village Church in Wellesley and Newton-Wellesley Hospital. In 1992 he volunteered as a case worker for the American Red Cross after Hurricane Andrew.

Bob was a gentleman in the truest sense of the word.
