Victor Neiditz died peacefully at home in Naples, FL, on December 26, 2013.
Born in New York on June 8, 1923, he was 90 years old. He lived in the Bronx from 1923 to 1938, and in Manhattan from 1938 to 1943, and also 1958 to 1969. He graduated from Townsend Harris High School in 1939 and from the School of Business & Civic Administration at the City University of New York (CCNY) in 1943. He later earned a MBA degree from New York University.
He served in the U.S. Merchant Marine Service, and went to work for the Moore McCormick Steamship Company. He served briefly in the U.S. Army from 1943 to 1944. He was married to Marie (Fulop) from 1943 to 1958, and together they had three children.
His 34 year career with U. S. Steel included work for U.S. Steel Export in 1945, the Isthmian Steamship Company from 1953 to 1956, work in New York (1956 to 1969) and Pittsburgh (1969 to 1973), before a move to Triangel GmbH in West Germany (1974 to 1979). After retirement from U. S. Steel, he was an executive with the Besmer textile company in Germany (1979 to 1982) before serving as Director-General for Triangel/Mexico from 1982 to 1987.
He married Hilde (Lorz) in 1959, and together they lived in New York, Pittsburgh, Germany, and Mexico, before settling in Florida. Their passions included boating, swimming and walking, theater, social conversation and extensive travel. He retired to Naples, FL in 1987, and became a political activist with the Taxpayers Action Group of Collier County, where he played a leadership role and was recognized for outstanding public service. He was respected and loved in the various communities where he lived, and he will be missed.
He is survived by his wife, Hilde Neiditz; his daughter, Linda Noe in Seattle, daughter, Dru (Tom) Kepler in Gig Harbor WA; and son, Andrew Neiditz (Marie) in Lakewood, WA. He is also survived by four grandchildren, Tyler Kepler in San Francisco, Nicole Neiditz in Seattle, Elliot Neiditz in Bellingham, WA, and Devin Kepler in Fort Collins, CO.
The family will schedule a private remembrance at a later date.
