Vito Iovino Obituary

Vito J. Iovino

Naples, FL

Vito J. Iovino, at the age of 81, passed away December 19, 2016 surrounded by his loving family. Vito was born on May 1, 1935 in Chicago, Illinois to Henry and Josephine Iovino (Marzullo). He is survived by his sister, Rochelle Iovino.

Vito was a devoted husband to Linda (Sommer) Iovino for 58 years. Loving father to son, Henry Iovino, daughters, Tracey Iovino Perkins (Joseph), Allison Iovino Richardson (Chris), and son, JJ Iovino (Jenny). Vito also adored his seven grandchildren: Ali and Joey Perkins, Taylor and Kelsi Richardson, GiGi, Maddie and Joey Iovino.

Vito was raised in an Italian Catholic neighborhood on the south side of Chicago. He attended Mt. Carmel High School, where his love for football began. During his time at Mt. Carmel, he was victorious in three State Championships. Upon graduation, he attended the University of Illinois on a football scholarship, where he earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Business and was a member of the Sigma Nu Fraternity. Post graduation, Vito was commissioned into the Army and achieved the rank of Captain. While stationed at Ft. Lee, Virginia, he met and married Linda, the love of his life.

Vito joined the NCR Corporation; six years later he was promoted to NCR Headquarters in Dayton, Ohio. In 1970 NCR asked him to relocate to Indiana where he managed the central Indiana offices. Eventually, in 1976, Vito resigned from NCR and joined the Miles and Finch Insurance Agency, where he later became a partner until his retirement in 2001. After retiring, Vito and Linda moved from Indiana, finally landing in Naples, Florida.

Throughout his life, Vito was highly involved in the community; Chairman of the United Way, President of the YMCA, member of the Kokomo Rotary Club and Board Member of the Community Foundation. For 10 years, Vito was appointed by the Governor of the State of Indiana to the Commission For Higher Education, where he served as Chairman for two years. Vito's commitment to education eventually led him to mentor students through the Immokalee Foundation's "Take Stock In Children" program.

Vito was a special person who impacted family, friends and community in so many ways. BoBo, as referred to by his grandchildren, lived life to the fullest. His optimistic perspective on life will forever be remembered by his motto... Keep The Faith!

A memorial mass for Vito will be held on Friday, December 23, 2016 at 2:00 PM St. John the Evangelist, 625 111th Ave. N., Naples, Florida and a celebration of Vito's life will be held in January.

My condolences to the Iovino family.
I interviewed with Vito when I moved to Kokomo and had the pleasure of working with him for many years at Miles & Finch until his retirement. Enjoyed his visits to the office when he was in town. The world has lost a great man!
Keep the faith! RIH

Vito was one unique guy. What I will remember most are the times with him chatting about family and sports. Always joking about people and events and finding humor at every turn of in the road. This attitude made it easy for his friends as he was such a pleasure to be around. Thank you Vito for so many smiles and cherished memories.
You will be greatly missed and forever special in my heart.
