Janice Miller Obituary
Janice (Jan) Miller, lovingly known as GranJan to her grandchildren, passed away on October 13th, 2025. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, teacher, and friend to many. She was born in Paris, TN to her parents Roy Lee and Nina Arnold, but for the last 33 years, she called Navarre, Florida her home. She was surrounded by the love of her family.
She is preceded in death by her mother and father, her sister Connie Prewitt, and her dearest friend Kim Meyer.
She is survived by her devoted husband, Mark Miller, her two children, Robby Miller and Laura (Stephen) Roberts, her grandchild, Austin, and her step-grandchild, Abbey, as well as her sister Sondra Bedwell and brother Roy Arnold. Her love and kindness will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
For over 20 years, Jan dedicated her heart and talents to teaching preschoolers. Her love for children extended beyond the classroom and into her church, where she faithfully served at St. Sylvester Catholic Church in the children's ministry-including Children's Liturgy and Son Treasures, a program for children with special needs. Jan had a childlike soul and loved working with children. She treated them like her own, with many of her students and family friends calling her "Mom."
In more recent years, she worked at the local Walmart Supercenter in Navarre, where she touched the hearts of many customers and coworkers with her friendly smile, caring spirit, and genuine kindness. Whether in a classroom, at church, or in the store aisle, she saw the good in all people and made them feel seen, valued, and loved.
Jan was a huge fan of Jimmy Buffet music and loved going to concerts, movies, and plays. She also had a deep love for books and reading. She especially enjoyed stories that carried her to faraway worlds-some of her favorites were tales of flying on the backs of dragons. Her bookshelf was filled with imagination and suspense, and she took pride in her growing collection of Stephen King novels.
A funeral Mass and celebration of her life will be held on Monday, October 27th at 11 AM at St. Sylvester Catholic Church. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in her memory to the Pirates on the Panhandle, a 501c3 charitable organization of which Jan was a charter member, PO Box 5443, Navarre, FL 32566.
