Adele 'Stacy' Robak Shaw, long-time resident of New Canaan, passed away peacefully at her Pennswood Village home in Newtown, Penn on Tuesday, February 10, 2015 with her loving husband by her side Stacy and her husband, Doug, lived in New Canaan for 44 years before moving to Newtown, Penn in 2012 to be closer to their children

Born on January 26, 1930 to Mary Przyluska and Frank Robak in New York City where she grew up and later attended Barnard College majoring in economics and graduating in 1951 After graduation she worked at Conde Nast for Vogue magazine as an assistant to the fashion editor, Nicolas De Gunzburg

In 1956, she married Douglas Graeme Shaw, Sr who survives her; lived in the Midwest for six years before moving to Connecticut and later to New Canaan in 1968 Also surviving are her three children: Cynthia Mary Shaw (and husband Robert H Frankievich), Douglas Graeme Shaw, Jr and Stuart Chattan Shaw (and wife Barbara Capaldo Shaw) and four grandchildren: Henry Hunter Frankievich, Charles Gray Frankievich, Michaela Frances Shaw and Patrick Henry Shaw

After having her three children, Stacy went back to work full time as a research analyst for Dunlap and Associates conducting research studies for the government in ground transportation Later in her career, she studied to be a paralegal and worked at Paul, Weiss, Rifkind and Garrison and also at Simpson Thatcher as a lead paralegal in real estate and estate planning, retiring in 1982

Stacy was an avid tennis enthusiast beginning when, as a young woman, she was a line judge at the US Open in Forest Hills, NY She loved listening to classical music, reading the New York Times beginning to end, and tending to her African violets Stacy spent most spring, summer and fall weekends with her husband sailing Long Island Sound and adventuring to Block Island, Martha's Vineyard and Nantucket She was also a member of St Mark's Episcopal Church

Friends and family will remember Stacy for her quick wit, sharp intellect and her love of words, but most of all for her big beautiful smile

A private service is being held in Yardley, Penn In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Heart Association at wwwheartorg
