Eileen Gallo Obituary
On Thursday, June 29, 2023, Eileen Gallo died at her home in New Canaan, CT, at the age of 88.
Eileen is survived by her four children: Frank J. Gallo, Jr., and Paul D. Gallo of New Canaan, CT, John C. Gallo of Edgewood, MD, and Pamela E. Etheridge (Darold) of Marietta, GA; and her brother Daniel Ambruso of Destin, FL. She was preceded in death by her parents, Daniel J. and Mary V. Ambruso, and her siblings Barbara Turner, and Jack and Rick Ambruso. She was a loving grandmother to Emma Rose, Anthony Joseph, and Christopher Gallo.
Eileen was born on September 10, 1934, and grew up in Stamford, CT. She attended Saint John's Catholic School and Mother of God Academy in Stamford. After marrying Frank J. Gallo, Sr., in 1959, she moved to New Canaan.
She worked at New Canaan Library from 1980 to 1998. From 2002 to 2020, she babysat for her beloved "second family", Paul and Lisa Hadlow, and their four children.
She was a devout Christian and believed in giving to others. Eileen lived independently until her last few weeks and died at home as she had wanted, passing peacefully and without pain, for which her family and friends are all grateful.
Per her request, no memorial service is planned. In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent in her name to Susan G Komen, Waveny Lifecare Network/Visiting Nurse & Hospice of Fairfield County, or World Vision.

The Greenaway family expresses our sympathies to her family and love for beloved Eileen. She was a loving soul with a wonderful smile and sense of humor.
We remember with fondness the love she and our mother Nancy Greenaway had for each other and their deep Catholic faith. May they rest in peace together once again.

I learned late of your mother's death. My mother and yours were friends and shared an outlook on life as well as an additional important common friendship. I'm glad to hear that her passing was relatively peaceful but am sorry for your loss.
