Elaine Frances (Stefanowski) Mrus
Elaine Frances (Stefanowski) Mrus passed away in her sleep at home in the early hours of Tuesday, May 25, 2021. She graced our lives for 90 years and 11 months.
Elaine was born in Stamford, graduated from Stamford High School in 1948, and received her Bachelor of Arts degree from University of Bridgeport in 1973. Elaine married Stanley T. Mrus, also of Stamford, on May 5, 1951.
They are both survived by three children, a daughter-in-law, and one grandchild and her spouse, two sisters-in-law, as well as nieces and nephews.
Elaine was a frequent exhibitor of her paintings, sculptures, and photographs in local and regional art shows. Her award-winning work as shown in the prestigious Art of the Northeast exhibition at Silvermine Art Guild, the New Canaan Art Show, the Carriage Barn, and other local and regional galleries and exhibition halls. Also, Elaine was very active in the Stamford Camera Club and was awarded their prestigious Lifetime Achievement Award in 2007.
Her works are in the corporate collections of Time-Warner, Champion, among others. Her works can also be found in private art collections.
Elaine and Stan traveled extensively in the Northeast and out West. Visiting our National Parks was always on their travel itineraries.
In pursuing her dreams, Elaine lived an remarkable, interesting, and fulfilling life. She was—and still is—an inspiration to those whose lives were touched by her love, compassion, and grace. She is sorely and deeply missed.
Funeral Services for Elaine will be held on Friday, August 6, 2021 at 1:30 p.m. at St. Mark's Episcopal Church, 111 Oenoke Ridge, New Canaan, CT. Her internment will follow at Lakeview Cemetery, 352 Main Street, New Canaan, CT
