Graham Davis

Graham Davis, formerly of New Canaan, died April 21, 2015 at the age of 89

Graham was born March 21, 1926 and raised in Evanston, Ill He graduated with a bachelors degree in mechanical engineering from Northwestern University and an MBA from Harvard Business School

During the Korean War he proudly served as a first lieutenant in the Navy aboard the USS Valley Forge

Graham described his lifetime occupation as managing change - he was an engineer who would create systems to improve results His work included management roles at Celanese, Westvaco and Weyerhaeuser, though his self-described career highlight was his time with Frank Ix & Sons, a small privately held textile company This included a year in London and Ireland with his wife Beverley, where he turned around Frank Ix's struggling international operation

Graham met Beverley on a blind date in Vancouver, British Columbia, and they married soon after

After time in San Diego Calif, Longview, Wash, and Charleston SC, they settled down to raise their family in New Canaan In addition to his busy work life, Graham served on the Board of Education and the vestry at St Mark's Some of his favorite things included golf, swimming, tennis, paddle tennis, and Bev's meatloaf

After retirement, Beverley and Graham moved to West Seattle, enjoying 15 years as youngest son Phil's neighbor In 2011 they moved to Horizon House in downtown Seattle

Graham is survived by his wife Beverley, daughter Sarah (Tom) Davidson of Madison, Conn and sons Phil (Cathy) of Seattle, Wash, Graham (Sandra) of Madison, Conn, and Brad (Debbie) of Pomfret, Conn, plus 11 grandchildren and three (plus one on the way) great-grandchildren
