Joan M. Scribner

Joan Marinella Scribner, a resident of Vista, NY, passed away on Sunday, Oct 9, 2016 at her home She was 81

Born July 19, 1935 in Stamford, Conn, she was the daughter of the late Antoinette and Carmine Marinella Joan grew up in Stamford and attended Sacred Heart Academy where she graduated as salutatorian Two years later, she graduated from Georgetown Visitation with an associate's degree She lived in New Canaan for a short time

Joan was an active member of St Matthew Catholic Church in Norwalk She has ushered there many years as well as participated in St Ann's Society, the bereavement group and CHAI, the Catholic Health Association of India Joan was a volunteer at the New Canaan Library and at Norwalk Hospital

Joan is predeceased by her husband, Thomas Scribner, whom she married in 1957 They lived most of their married life in Vista

Joan is survived by her two daughters, Beth Boyland of Bedford, NY and Susan Tassitano of Cumming, Ga and four grandchildren

The family will receive friends at the Edward Lawrence Funeral Home, 2119 Post Road in Darien on Wednesday, Oct 12, from 4 to 8 pm A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St Matthew Catholic Church, 216 Scribner Avenue, in Norwalk on Thursday, Oct 13, at 10 am  Entombment will follow at St John Cemetery in Norwalk

The St Ann Auxiliary will assemble at the Edward Lawrence Funeral Home at 7 pm on Wednesday, Oct 12

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Catholic Health Association of India, c/o St Matthew Catholic Church, 216 Scribner Avenue, Norwalk, CT 06850  Please made the check out to St Matthew Catholic Church, and please put CHAI in the memo area
