Phyl Munro, 97, died peacefully July 16,2021 in Meriden CT.
Arrangements were private.
Phyl was born on February 20, 1924 in Manchester England. During WWII she met and married Gordon Johnston Munro, a squadron leader in the R.A.F.
Phyl and Gordon lived in England until 1957, at which time they moved to the United States. For 30 years they lived in New Canaan CT. where she was a long time substitute teacher in both New Canaan High School and Norwalk High School. During that time she was also very active in Planned Parenthood.
After Gordon retired, they moved to Napa, California where they enjoyed another wonderful 30 years.
Phyl is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Hilary and Michael Rutberg and their sons Evan Rutberg and Spencer Rutberg and their families. She is also survived by her son and daughter-in-law Stephen and Vicki Munro and their children Ian Munro, Nicole Munro and Heather Burns.
She was predeceased by her husband of 74 years, Gordon Johnston Munro.

I remember Mrs. Munro as a substitute teacher in the 1970s and her stories about the UK . She was always very kind and very charming and witty, and well loved. RIP Phyl Munro.
