Sara Wolter Obituary

Sara Lou Wolter
With great sadness we announce the loss of our dearest Sara Lou Byrnice Wolter on June 22, 2022. Sara Lou passed away from complications related to her long, fierce battle with colon cancer. She was at home with the people she loved most.
Sara Lou is survived by her husband Jay Walker of New Canaan, CT, her daughter Delaney Davidson of New York City, her stepson Cody Walker of Norwalk, CT, and her brother Rob Wolter of Westport, CT. Sara Lou was predeceased by her mother, Betsy Hulsey of Darien, CT and her father Bob Wolter of Little Compton, RI.
Sara Lou was born on June 26th, 1955 in Marshalltown, Iowa. She attended Wykeham Rise boarding school in Washington, CT and went on to study marketing at Pace University in New York City. In 2018 Sara's daughter also graduated from Pace University.
Sara Lou's love for her family shone brightly, particularly cherishing Delaney and Jay. She was a true renaissance woman: an accountant passionate about theater, gardening, travel and singing. Sara Lou was an active member of St Mark's Episcopal Church in New Canaan and enjoyed their trips to sing in cathedrals in England. She loved engaging in both political and religious debates, always coming from a place of knowledge, curiosity, and humanity.
She will be deeply missed. Our celebration of life will be held at St Mark's Church in New Canaan on July 9th. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. For online condolences and directions please visit www.hoytfuneralhome.com.
