Hoffman - Waneta Morfey, 90 of Hoffman died Friday, June 4, 2021, at Stevens' Homes Plus of rural Barrett, Minnesota. A Private Graveside Service was held June 15, 2021 at Lands Cemetery, Hoffman, MN.
Waneta E. Morfey was born on June 24, 1930, in Nevada, Iowa the daughter of Hubert "Faye" and Laura (Eatwell) Kirby. She graduated from Nevada High School.
Waneta and Donald Morfey were married on July 25, 1953, in Nevada, Iowa. They lived a short time in Nevada before moving to their home in rural Barrett, Minnesota. Waneta worked in the Abstract Office in Nevada, for Bohn Drug in Hoffman, and many years at the Hoffman Post Office, first as Clerk and then as Postmaster. She was a member of Lands Lutheran Church where she taught Sunday School and sang in the choir. Waneta enjoyed sewing, needle work, quilting, golfing, bowling, and her favorite was reading, and would read anything she got her hands on.
She is survived by two daughters, Dona (Doug) Stevens of Barrett and Anne (Dave) Zerr of Osakis; four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren, Kristin Johnson and daughters, Kali and Jaime, Jerry Stevens and daughter Cory, Jason Stevens children, Jaden and McKaylyn, and Laura (Seth) Ruesink of Mounds View; sister-in-law, Marlene Carleton of Oregon; and by numerous relatives and friends. Waneta was preceded in death by her husband, Donald on October 30, 1969; parents, Faye and Laura Kirby; sister, Norma Stanfield; a brother-in-law, Russell Morfey, and nephew, Keith Tendall.
