Thomas 'Tom L. Hummel Jr., 54, of Mehoopany passed away on Sunday, March 27, 2022, at Tyler Memorial Hospital in Tunkhannock.
He was born in Wilkes-Barre, on Feb. 19, 1968, son of the late Thomas (d. Nov. 4, 2009) and Rachael Uren (d. April 17, 2019) Hummel, Sr.
Tom loved cars and was and excellent mechanic, opening Hummel Inspection where he was the owner and operator. He also spent many hours outdoors hunting and fishing and enjoyed spoiling his children.
He is survived by his loving wife, Stacey Hummel of Mehoopany; his children: Monica Askew, Thomas L. Hummel III (Julie) of Falls, Elliot Hummel of Mehoopany, Travis Hummel of Mehoopany, Nicholas Hummel of Mehoopany, and Angel Hummel of Mehoopany; his grandchildren: Alia Hummel and Thomas L. Hummel IV; his siblings: Helen Kelly (Peter) of Mehoopany and John Hummel (April) of Mehoopany; his father-in-law, Stanley Franklin Sr. of Meshoppen; his grandmother-in-law, Jennie Marie Owen of Black Walnut; and his brothers and sisters-in-law: Shelley Franklin Darling (Floyd) of Springville, Stanley Franklin Jr. of Black Walnut and Josh Franklin (Katie) of Meshoppen.
Besides his parents, Tom is preceded in death by his sisters: Betty Rachael Kriedler (d. Oct. 30, 2001) and Kathy Ann Hummel; and his mother-in-law, Sharon Franklin (d. Jan. 5, 2002).
A funeral service for Tom was held on Friday, April 1, from the Sheldon Funeral Home, 459 Main Street, Laceyville, with Reverend Lawrence Reed of the Emmanuel Assembly of God officiating. Interment took place at the Memorial Shrine Cemetery in Carverton.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Tom's name to the Hummel Family Scholarship, Community Bank, 406 W. Main Street, Laceyville, PA 18623.
